“You’re assigned extremely important tasks and are given major responsibilities very early in your career at Manhattan. Most projects have high visibility so it’s not uncommon for directors, vice presidents and other senior management to know you personally very soon. You also have enormous flexibility in choosing the kind of work you want to do and the career path you want to take.”
Back in school, I read about the increasing importance and sophistication of today’s supply chain brought on by rapid globalization and the demand for superior service and lower costs. Being a Computer Science student, I wondered about the role of technology in making this possible. When I heard about Manhattan Associates from the NC State Career Center, I was intrigued by the thought of working for such a company. I attended their on‐campus presentation and was convinced that Manhattan was where I wanted to start my career.
I’ve been with Manhattan for over three two years and it has been an amazing experience. I work for the R&D department on Manhattan’s product—Warehouse Management for Open Systems—on everything from initial design and development to quality assurance and customer support. Currently, I’m part of a core group that works closely with our Professional Services Organization to ensure all Manhattan customers have a smooth ‘go live.’ As part of this team, I get to learn the technical, functional and the business aspects of the product and about the vast domain of supply chain. I also work closely with various teams across the company as well as with other product groups regarding integration with Warehouse Management.
I am a big travel junkie—what better place to be than in the home of one of the largest airline hubs? Living in Atlanta makes my life much easier when I want to take an impulsive trip. Apart from that, the city boasts some of the most amazing restaurants, pubs, museums, historical landmarks, parks and theaters. There are mountains, trails and lakes to keep the fitness freak in me busy year‐round. I can spend the weekend catching a Braves game or shopping in Buckhead—the city has it all for everyone.
High visibility and flexibility—you’re assigned extremely important tasks and are given major responsibilities very early in your career at Manhattan. You’re soon expected to deliver on assignments with minimal supervision, which creates a high level of confidence at an early stage. Most projects have high visibility so it’s not uncommon for directors, vice presidents and other senior management to know you personally very soon. Everyone is helpful, friendly and approachable. The company has a good benefits package, a fantastic Human Resources team and fun office events throughout the year. You’ll have enormous flexibility in choosing the kind of work you want to do and the career path you want to take. The door to your manager’s office is always open to discuss future projects, expectations, options and goals.
