ATLANTA - October 29, 2012 - Manhattan Associates today announced the development of Mobile Shipment Manager, an application for Manhattan SCALE available on Windows 8 and Windows RT, Microsoft’s highly-anticipated new version of its Windows operating system. Mobile Shipment Manager, the latest creation from Manhattan Mobility Labs, provides immediate visibility into supply chain shipments and allows one-touch management access via any Windows 8-enabled device.
“An application like this will enable me to re-route shipments as needed, execute rush deliveries and immediately remedy any challenges from a mobile device while integrated to Manhattan SCALE,” said Jim Casselman, chief information officer, Buffalo Hospital Supply. “Being able to make key supply chain decisions anywhere is invaluable to me and my operations team.”
Microsoft Windows 8-style apps, or “Live Tiles,” are designed to be fast and fluid and optimized for the touchscreen environments common to the current “bring your own device” (BYOD) environment in business technology. This Windows 8 architecture enables live notifications to Manhattan SCALE users as to current shipping metrics in the distribution process as well as the ability to change carriers on the fly.
“Microsoft app developers have always provided rich functionality and value for our shared customers, and Windows 8 gives them the platform to deliver,” said John Richards, senior director, Windows Business Development. “The re-imagining of Windows keeps our app developers ahead of the competition and gives our shared customers flexibility and choice.”
“The development of Mobile Shipment Manager continues our strategy of helping supply chain professionals break away from their office environments and be more engaged in their day-to-day operations,” said David Landau, vice president, product management, Manhattan Associates. “The Windows 8 OS will deliver businesses new possibilities in mobile productivity.”
