Manhattan Associates Receives Award for ‘Best IT Supply Chain Solution Provider in Asia’

Global supply chain optimisation provider, Manhattan Associates, Inc. (NASDAQ: MANH) has been named ‘Best IT Supply Chain Solution Provider in Asia’ by a panel of independent industry experts from the Global Supply Chain Council. The successful deployment of Manhattan’s Warehouse Management system (WMS) by Sinpoharm, China’s largest pharmaceuticals distributor, was a key factor in helping Manhattan win the CHaINA award for the second time.

In the fiercely competitive pharmaceutical industry, effective management of the entire supply chain has become essential. This has been made possible with the advent of technologies that control not just storage and transportation, but every process in the supply chain.

Manhattan Associates’ software has delivered impressive improvements to Sinopharm’s service operations, while streamlining the entire working procedures of its logistics centre. It has enhanced every step of the supply chain process from receiving to inspection, through put-away, re-checking, picking, packing and shipping. Manhattan Associates’ WMS is able to manage the movement of goods in a more efficient manner through better visibility of inventory and access to comprehensive supply chain data. Through enhanced quality control, better service and more timely fulfilment of orders, Sinopharm boosted inventory accuracy to 99.99 per cent and on-shelf availability to 100 per cent.

Each year, the CHaINA awards recognise innovation, excellence and success in supply chain management, procurement and logistics by identifying and rewarding outstanding performance among leading manufacturers, retailers, 3PLs, IT solution providers and key practitioners in industry across the whole of Asia. A panel of judges consisting of leading supply chain executives draws up a shortlist of companies for each award category based on the successes that nominated businesses are able to demonstrate throughout their Asian operations before an online voting poll decides the ultimate winners. The 2011 awards ceremony, hosted by the Global Supply Chain Council, was held at InterContinental Shanghai Puxi on November 3 2011.

Sinopharm started using Manhattan Associates solutions in 2006, deploying the company’s supply chain solution in its highly automated distribution centre in Shanghai. It was then rolled out to Sinopharm’s many other distribution centres across China as part of its strategic plan to achieve integrated supply chain management and execution. By implementing Manhattan Associates’ WMS, Sinopharm now has the ability to analyse the performance of the warehouse and can identify areas where productivity and service level improvements can be made.
