November 2015 Logistics Market Report
As we officially enter the holiday shopping season, the November edition of the Logistics Market Snapshot, collated by the Georgia Center of Innovation for Logistics, is now available online.
Looking at more than 300 sources of information from external resources including NASDAQ, the US Department of Transportation and the Bureau of Labor Statistics, the Market Snapshot provides insight into rail, trucking, air and ocean freight, warehouse and distribution, multimodal and US markets trends.
Below are a few interesting highlights from the November edition:
- E-Commerce revenue in October 2015 is estimated to be up 10% year-over-year. This October, the share of mobile orders (phone and tablet) out of all e-commerce orders has increased to 28%, up from 24% in 2014. (Source: Custora E-Commerce Pulse)
- Retail and food service sales increased in October to $447.3 billion, up 0.1% from the previous month, and up 1.7% above October 2014. Non-store retailer sales were up 7.1% from last year. (Source: US Census)
- Manufacturing & Trade Sales Total combined sales and manufacturing shipments totaled nearly $1.320 trillion in September 2015, virtually unchanged from August 2015 and down 2.8% from the previous year. (Source: US Census)
- Manufacturing & Trade Inventory Total value of inventory on hand is estimated at $1.817 trillion in September, up 0.3% from August 2015, and up 2.5% from September 2014. (Source: US Census)
