March 2016 Logistics Market Snapshot
The March edition of the Logistics Market Snapshot, collated by the Georgia Center of Innovation for Logistics, is now available online. Looking at more than 300 sources of information from external resources including NASDAQ, the US Department of Transportation and the Bureau of Labor Statistics, the Market Snapshot provides insight into rail, trucking, air and ocean freight, warehouse and distribution, multimodal and US markets trends.
Below are a few interesting highlights from the March edition:
- E-Commerce revenue was up 9% in January compared to January 2015. Mobile shopping (phones and tablets) accounted for 31% of online shopping, up from 26% in January 2015. (Source: Custora E-Commerce Pulse)
- Retail and food service sales decreased in February to $447.3 billion, down 0.1% from the previous month, and up 3.1% above February 2015. Non-store retailer sales were up 5.9% from last year. (Source: US Census)
- The consumer price index for all urban consumers fell 0.2% in February on a seasonally adjusted basis from the previous month. Over the last 12 months, the all items index increased 1.0% before seasonal adjustment. The producer price index for final demand decreased 0.2% in February from the previous month.
