Manhattan Associates Launches 2013 Inventory Optimization Release

Designed to increase scalability and profitability for omnichannel execution

ATLANTA, August 13, 2013

Supply Chain Commerce solutions provider Manhattan Associates (NASDAQ: MANH) today announced the 2013 release of its Inventory Optimization solution, which provides customized, automated inventory optimization strategies designed to address a customer’s specific business issues and objectives. The solution offers benefits in three key areas: inventory profitability, inventory scalability, and inventory investment efficiency, enabling complete supply chain network visibility designed to deliver increased inventory optimization and maximize return on investment.

“Our solutions are designed to handle the most complex omnichannel inventory management challenges—no matter how many channels, partners, product SKUs or outlets a company has,” said Rodney R. Daugherty, senior director, product strategy, Manhattan Associates. “We are now able to scale up to 15 times greater SKU volumes than prior releases, without impacting Manhattan’s sophisticated forecasting, replenishment, and fulfillment capabilities.”

Manhattan Inventory Optimization has a long history of successfully-streamlining global supply chains. Nature’s Best, a certified organic, natural, and specialty products wholesaler, implemented Manhattan’s Inventory Optimization after their existing legacy system was unable to respond to turnover, or handle additional distribution centers. After partnering with Manhattan, Nature’s Best decreased labor costs by 66 percent and increased inventory accuracy by 14 percent.

“We needed leading edge software that could accommodate omnichannel challenges, so we began a review process that led us to Manhattan’s Inventory Optimization,” said Russell Parker, senior vice president of marketing, brand management, and inbound logistics, Nature’s Best. "The software does all the heavy lifting. It does the thinking. It does the analysis. It updates itself. It reviews and discards outlying data. It recommends changes for everything from forecasts to order frequency."

The partnership between Manhattan Associates and Nature’s Best involved streamlining their buying process from thousands of vendors, not just in the United States and Canada, but throughout the world. "Inventory Optimization offers Nature's Best three key advantages: Customer focus combined with financial responsibility, automated decision making, and demand-driven execution," continued Rod Daugherty.

The entire implementation cycle took less than 90 days. In the month after implementation, Nature's Best reduced its out-of-stock conditions by 23 percent over the prior year. The second distribution center was added within six months of the software system going live and the company's top-line sales were increased through better seasonal forecast accuracy.
