Giving Back to Our Communities

Our commitment to our people includes providing opportunities to give back to our communities. We work to be a force for good through our global community engagement initiative, MA Connect. Through MA Connect, team members have the opportunity to make a difference in our local communities through volunteer events.

In 2021, Manhattan sponsored 20 global Connect events with 200+ team members volunteering their time to give back to important causes. In 2020, we announced ‘Purpose Hours,’ giving team members the opportunity to volunteer in their local communities with an organization that is unique and personal to them.

In 2022 we expanded ‘Purpose Hours’ into a full, eight-hour ‘Purpose Day,’ and Manhattan Connect continues in 2022 to focus on partnering with charitable organizations across the globe.

USA

Community Involvement in the U.S.

In 2021, a few of our U.S. team’s activities included volunteering with our new community partner, City of Refuge. MA volunteers were all hands on deck for a painting day, cookie decorating for moms and kids.

Open Hand Atlanta is a longtime community partner. Every year the Atlanta team helps prepare, pack and delivers healthy medically-tailored meals for individuals struggling with chronic illnesses or food insecurities in the Metro Atlanta community.

And our Research and Development and Enterprise Technology Services teams put their skills to work hosting a Tech Academy which included IT classes, mentoring and mock job interviews.

India

Community Involvement in India

Our Bangalore team went to work in their communities with a focus on education and healthcare. In partnership with the Samarthanam Trust for the Disabled, the team sponsored 20 underprivileged children in need of primary and higher education as well as ten ‘Smart Classrooms’ at government schools.

In partnership with the Sri Ramana Maharishi Academy for the Blind, the Bangalore team also sponsored renovation and set up of a much-needed fire protection system and Hemodialysis machines.

Twenty volunteers also formed the Manhattan India COVID-19 Task Force. This group of superheroes worked closely with impacted employees and their families to make sure they could access necessary treatment and local health resources.

EMEA

Community Involvement in EMEA

Our MA Connect volunteers across Europe supported charitable organizations supporting mental health, ALS, children’s hospice and more. In 2021, The UK team partnered with Co-op (local grocery retailer) to support 27 underperforming schools. Three Manhattan volunteers also led a virtual work experience session for the schools. In 2020, team members put on their running shoes in support of MIND’s Walk/Run Marathon.

Also in 2021, the Dutch team hosted a Netherlands-Foundation ALS NL virtual education session. Our team in Düsseldorf hosted a virtual education session and toy drive for Germany-Kinderhospitz Regenbogen (children’s hospice).

The French team supported Fondation des Femmes (an organization that fights against violence and advocates for equality between women and men) with in-person volunteering at various stores and the collection of donated items.

APAC

Community Involvement in APAC

Our MA Connect volunteers across APAC volunteered with charitable organizations supporting the elimination of hunger and reducing climate impact. The Australian team participated in the Help Oz Harvest charity, Australia’s leading food rescue organization with food hamper packing and food distribution day.

The Japan team supported Second Harvest, a charity providing a food safety net by delivering surplus food to children’s homes, single mothers and people with disabilities.

The Singapore team supported Green Nudge, a charity aiming to promote environmentally sustainable behavior and practices that lead to a low-carbon, zero waste alternatives in Singapore by 2030.

Our team in China supported the Red Cross Society of China, a humanitarian social relief organization helping local communities in times of natural disasters and emergencies.

Our People Supporting Sustainability

As a global community, we support (and take inspiration from) events like Big Energy Saving Week (in January), Earth Day (in April) and Plastic Free July as opportunities to not only focus on traditional approaches to saving energy, but also to share ideas on how we can all help reduce our carbon footprints and be more eco-friendly and sustainable as a business and as individuals too.
